Renowned Awards

Although all of Pollard's awards are outstanding and excellent, there are a few that stand out. These awards are given to certain individuals who had outstanding talent. In August of 2005, Pollard was elected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. This award is such a great accomplishment because out of millions of players to play in the history of the NFL, a small amount of people are elected for this award every year. Also, in the year 1954, Pollard was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. With the insanely large amount of college football players, only 0.02% of players are elected to this award, so that is an outstanding feat in itself. He became just the second African-American named to this award.

All Other Awards

Even though I seperated these awards into 2 categories, these awards aren't less important than the two other achievements listed above this. In his lifetime, Pollard was elected to receive many awards. One of those was the Brown University Hall of Fame in 1971. This was a great achievement by Fritz, considering he didn't apply to attend Brown. Another award was the nomination into the National Black Hall of Fame in 1973. Some other awards he recived were the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award in 1978 which recognizes "outstanding services by an adult individual or orginization." He was also elected into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame in 1967 and the Black Coaches Association had named the Male Coach of the Year award in Pollard's honor. The Fritz Pollard Alliance was also founded to support diversity in the NFL and provide its members with resources to help them every step of the way.
