Fritz Pollard was also a highly successful businessman as well as a talented athlete. In his time as a businessman, Pollard founded the first black investment firm called F.D. Pollard and Co. Pollard also started the first black weekly news tabloid called N.Y. Independent News. He managed the Suntan Movie Studios located in Harlem and Chicago. Pollard established coal delivery companies in both Chicago and New York, respectively. Pollard was a booker at a white night club and would occasionally book black talent. Fritz also became a tax consultant. On top of all of those business ventures, Pollard directed his own YMCA. As you can tell from this presentation, Pollard was a man of many talents and he succeeded in almost everything he did.
